Oakwood Real Estate

Oakwood is a proud city located immediately south of Downtown Dayton and close to interstate access on Interstate 75 and Interstate 675. John Henry Patterson, industrialist and founder of the National Cash Register Corporation, is considered the “Father of Oakwood,” and the city was incorporated in 1908. One of the city’s early residents was Orville Wright, whose home, Hawthorn Hill, still stands at the corner of Harman and Park Avenues. The city is known as a suburban residential area with mostly tree-lined streets.
Oakwood’s educational system places a strong emphasis on post-secondary education. Oakwood High School is a national school of excellence. The system is comprised of a 1 Kindergarten School, 2 Elementary Schools, and 1Middle School contiguous to 1 High School.
The city’s population according to the 2010 census data was 9202.
